Cybersecurity firm ClearShark, LLC needed to differentiate their start-up non-profit, ClearShark H2O, from their existing brand. ClearShark H2O’s goal was to create awareness in the community about how to protect and preserve Maryland’s waterways. Their mission included implementing programs in public schools, providing scholarships for environmental field trips and supporting other Chesapeake Bay related organizations and non-profits. ClearShark wanted to keep their parent logo, so we used color palette, photography, font and design motifs to differentiate the non-profit sub brand.
I spearheaded the creation of a new color palette, chosen to represent colors in nature surrounding the Chesapeake Bay and bright accents reminiscent of their school-age children target audience. I additionally created branding and marketing materials including: website design, photography, event planning & branding, email marketing, social media design and donation & sponsorship collateral.
Events for the kids included beach cleanups, hands-on lessons at the Annapolis Maritime Museum and boating safety courses. In an age where kids spend increasingly more time inside and looking at screens, the goal was to introduce local kids to the various types of waterways and ecosystems right in their own backyard. As a result, they would learn how to safely appreciate and enjoy the waterways and most importantly, how to care for Maryland’s waterways to keep them clean for generations to come.
